About the Q-Collar
What is the Q-Collar?
The Q-Collar is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared device worn around the neck during sports activities to help protect the brain from the effects of repetitive sub-concussive head impacts. It's the only piece of sports equipment proven to do this.
How does it work?
The Q-Collar applies light pressure to the jugular veins, slightly increasing blood volume in the veins and capillaries around the brain. This is designed to help reduce movement of the brain within the skull when an impact occurs. It works as an added layer of protection alongside your existing gear — it doesn't replace helmets or other safety equipment.
Is the Q-Collar FDA-cleared?
Yes. On February 26, 2021, the Q-Collar became the first and only FDA-cleared device shown to help reduce the risk of traumatic brain injury from repetitive head impacts, following review of more than 25 pre-clinical and clinical studies.
Who is the Q-Collar for?
Athletes aged 13 and older participating in contact or collision sports, including football, lacrosse, soccer, hockey, skiing, snowboarding, basketball, volleyball, track & field, rugby, baseball, softball, and more.
Is the Q-Collar comfortable?
It may feel snug when first worn, but most athletes report they no longer notice it after a practice or two — similar to breaking in other new equipment.
Does it interfere with helmets, shoulder pads, or other gear?
No. The Q-Collar sits comfortably below helmets and above shoulder pads, and does not interfere with mouthguards, pads, or other standard equipment. For hockey athletes, it can be worn underneath an existing neck or laceration guard without affecting fit.
How long does a Q-Collar last?
The Q-Collar is built for 2+ seasons of use, combining a steel spring with high-tech silicone urethane elastomer. A replacement sleeve is available separately if yours shows wear.

How do I find my size?
Use a soft measuring tape around the middle of the neck, pulled snug with zero slack. Match your measurement to the size chart on our Sizing Guide page.
